Prayer for My Husband: Day 1 - Surrendering Our Husbands

Updated: Mar 25, 2024

The Word of God says that the man who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. (Proverbs 18:22)

The next thirty days we will be spending in prayer for our husbands and our marriages.

Each day will consist of the following:

1. Scripture

2. A Digging Deeper section with some reflection questions on the Scripture for the day.

3. Meditating on the Word

4. A Prayer for our husbands: one for those whose husbands proclaims Christ (blue words in the light pink background on the graphics) and one whose husband is not (light pink words in the green background on the graphics.)

5.  A Challenge to help you with your marriage and prayer life some how

Here is day 1!

Surrender

Prayer for my husband challenge day 1
30 Day Prayer Challenge - Day 1

Surrender is a battle term. It implies giving up all rights to the conqueror in a battle. When an opposing army surrenders, they lay down their arms, and the winners take control from then on. Surrendering to God works the same way.”

Our lives come with many areas and battles that require us to surrender to our Father just as Jesus Christ did. When we try to handle these battles on our own, a path of destruction tends to follow. When the Word of God talks about surrender for the Christian, we have initial surrender at salvation. (John 6:44, Acts 2:21)

This is when we recognize our Lord and Savior as the Conqueror!!

Then, we have another layer of surrender that comes in our daily walk. Romans 12:1-2 says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Surrender is presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice. It means to be transformed by the Word of God and your relationship with Him as a Christian. It means walking in the Spirit because our flesh cannot please God (Romans 1-11).

Surrender, prayer, God's Word-this is our battle cry ladies! Today, we will pray to surrender our husbands AND ourselves over the next 30 days.

THIS is how we fight our battles.

Scripture:

Romans 12:1-2

Digging Deeper:

If you are inclined to dig deeper, here are some application questions.

  1. According to Romans 12:1, what is spiritual worship?

  2. According to Romans 12:2, how can a believer discern the will of God?

  3. What in your life do you need to surrender to the Conquerer? Think about this today. Ask the Lord to help you identify what YOU need to surrender.

  4. Write these verses on an index card for memorization and meditation to carry with you today.

Meditating on the Word

Think about the Scripture today. Ask the Lord to help you identify what YOU need to surrender in your life whenever you pause to reflect on this today. Write these verses on an index card if this will help remind you or set an alarm on your phone.

Prayer for today:

(For those whose husbands proclaim Christ)

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the absolute blessing of a husband You have given me. Lord, today I want to lift _____ up and surrender him to you. Lord, I pray that You aid us both so that we are able to understand the depth and definition of surrender in our lives daily to You, Father.

Lord, I pray that we have the desire and conviction to surrender ourselves, our marriage, and everything we encounter in our daily lives so that we may be a living sacrifice for You. Let this be our battle cry as wives praying for our husbands. I thank You and I love You.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
