Resources For Women Transitioning Out of the Word of Faith Movement / NAR

Are you fresh out of the Word of Faith movement/Prosperity Gospel, Deliverance Ministry, or NAR and unsure where to go next? You can start with these resources!

Leaving these movements can be a challenging, emotional, and sometimes isolating journey. Many who exit these movements experience confusion, grief, and even fear as they seek to rebuild their faith on a more biblical foundation. This guide offers practical steps and encouragement for navigating this transition.

Acknowledge the Emotional and Spiritual Impact
  • Allow Yourself to Grieve: It is normal to feel sadness, anger, or betrayal as you process the realization that some teachings you trusted were misleading or unbiblical.

  • Recognize the Spiritual Wounds: Many who leave these movements struggle with guilt, fear, or shame, especially if they were taught that lack of healing or prosperity was due to weak faith.

  • Seek God’s Comfort: Remember that God is near to the brokenhearted and welcomes your honest prayers (Psalm 34:18).

Re-examine What You Believe
  • Return to Scripture: Begin reading the Bible afresh, focusing on context and the whole counsel of God. Many find the Gospels and Psalms especially grounding during this time.

  • Question and Test Everything: Don’t be afraid to ask hard questions. Compare teachings you received to what Scripture actually says.

Find Healthy Community and Support
  • Connect with a Biblically Sound Church: Seek out a church that teaches the Bible in context, values humility, and encourages honest questions.

  • Share Your Story: We have an online community of women. This will help you realize you are not alone in this journey!

  • Consider Biblical Counseling
