Spiritual Gifts
Today's post is about spiritual gifts. The issue with spiritual gifts is often we think we know what our gifts are without understanding them biblically. There is such an emphasis on spiritual gifts in the body of Christ. While they are absolutely essential, I believe until you understand why they are essential for believers, we need to continue seeking after growing in His Word in spirit and truth and denying our flesh. God calls us and equips us in all things He calls us to.
In an article from Got Questions, it states that "spiritual gifts are to promote the common good of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:7), to build up the church (1 Corinthians 14:12), and to prepare us each for 'works of service . . . until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ' (Ephesians 4:12–13)."
It is great to want our husbands to know what their spiritual gifts are and to pray for them on this. However, are you operating in your spiritual gifts?
If you would like to find out what your spiritual gifts are, here is a PDF link for a spiritual gift test. I highly recommend that you do this with your mentor or your own church!
Scripture

Meditating on the Word
Think about the Scriptures today. Ask the Lord to help you seek God and His Word in spirit and truth to be equipped for His work. Write this verse on an index card if this will help to remind you or set an alarm on your phone to reflect and pray on these things throughout the day.
Digging Deeper
If you are inclined to dig deeper, here are some application questions based on the Scripture for today.
According to 1 Corinthians 12:11, what role does the Holy Spirit play in the distribution and functioning of spiritual gifts?
How does Paul's metaphor of the body challenge individualistic mindsets within the church? (1 Corinthians 12:12-30)
What has God equipped you to do in your marriage? Does this require use of any spiritual gifts? You can see a list of the gifts here.
Prayer for My Husband Today
(For those whose husbands proclaims Christ)
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You so much for blessing me with a husband who has a heart and the will to grow spiritually. Lord, I lift my husband up to You today and I ask for You to help him in his walk in finding his spiritual gift from You. Lord, I ask that You guide him with fortitude to grow in his gifts and walk in Your will. Thank You and I love You.
In Your heavenly name I pray, amen.

Prayer, Option #2
(For those whose husbands are not in Christ)
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You so much for blessing me with a husband who has a heart and the will to grow. Lord, I lift my husband up to You today and I ask for you to help me with my spiritual gifts so that I may point my husband to You. Lord, I ask that You guide me with fortitude to grow in these gifts as I walk in Your will. Thank You and I love You.
In Your heavenly name I pray, amen.

Challenge
Ask your husband to pray with you today, whether together or separately. I want to encourage you to ask him at some point. It is important that your husband knows you are praying for him. It really helps your husband to see the words that you are praying for him. (Firsthand experience!)
