A Prayer for our husbands: one for those whose husbands proclaims Christ and one for those whose husbands do not.
A Challenge to help you with your marriage and prayer life in some manner.
Hesed
The Hebrew word for God's faithfulness or lovingkindness is 'hesed." Hesed, found some 250 times in the Old Testament, expresses an essential part of God’s character. When God appeared to Moses to give the Law a second time, He described Himself as “abounding in” or “filled with” hesed, which is translated “love and faithfulness,” “unfailing love,” “faithful love,” “steadfast love,” and “loyal love,” depending on the Bible version (Exodus 34:6–7).
God’s covenant relationship with His people results in God's loyal love and faithfulness, even when His people are unfaithful to Him. Always at the heart of God's faithfulness and lovingkindness lies God’s generous sense of compassion, grace, and mercy. It surpasses ordinary kindness and friendship. God's lovingkindness is the inclination of the heart to show “amazing grace” to the one who is loved. (I got all of this from an article on the Got Questions website, and you can read more about that here.)
We see this type of relationship with David and Jonathan in 1 Samuel 18:1-2 Samuel 1:26. We should not be surprised then when we catch believers in the Bible in the act of doing what David did in 1 Samuel 20: running to the one dependable refuge that remains, to the One who has bound Himself to them by covenant and from whom they can expect hesed. In other words, we should not be surprised when we see believers in the Bible turning to the Lord who bound Himself to them in covenant.
When we come into a covenant relationship with God the Father, we experience an unconditional love without cease. It is a relationship based in kindness, mercy, grace, love, and we must not forget of course, righteousness.
Scripture

Meditating on the Word
Think about the Scriptures today. Ask the Lord to help you see ways in which you can be more dependable and loving towards your husband. Write this verse on an index card if this will help to remind you or set an alarm on your phone to reflect and pray on these things throughout the day.
Digging Deeper
If you are inclined to dig deeper, here are some application questions based on the Scripture for today.
How can you let the peace of Christ rule in your heart in times of conflict or stress in your marriage?
How can the command to "forgive as the Lord forgave you" be applied in a situation where you've been deeply hurt by your husband?
Think of a way that you can show your husband that you are for him and not his enemy the next time you get into an argument. How can you go ahead and make practical steps to show him compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, and the love of God?
Prayer for My Husband Today
(For those whose husbands proclaims Christ)
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for blessing me with a husband who has chosen to take a personal walk with You. Lord, today I want to lift my husband up to You and ask You to nurture his walk and relationship with You. I ask You to shower him with Your peace and love. Lord, I pray that You increase my husband's desire to continue to build a strong relationship with You through prayer and reading Your Word so that he may learn about Your lovingkindness and joy. Help me demonstrate Your love to my husband in my words and actions today, Father. Thank You for loving us unconditionally.
In Your heavenly name I pray, Amen.

Prayer, Option #2
(For those whose husbands are not in Christ)
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for blessing me with my husband. Lord, today I want to lift my husband up to You and ask You to shower him with Your peace and love. Lord, I pray that You increase my husband's desire to seek and know more about You so that he may come to know Your lovingkindness. I ask that You aid me in planting seeds for You to water. Help me demonstrate Your love to my husband in my words and actions today, Father. Thank You for loving us unconditionally.
In Your heavenly name I pray, Amen.

Challenge
Ask your husband to pray with you today, whether together or separately. I want to encourage you to ask him at some point. It is important that your husband knows you are praying for him. It really helps your husband to see the words that you are praying for him. (Firsthand experience!)
